GOALS AND IDEALS

AZ Energy Consultants (AZEC) was started in early 2012 to provide a comprehensive energy consulting service. Athavan Rajasundaram identified and responded to the need for energy modelling that accurately interpreted the architect's design intent. He realized the need for strong communication between the designers and the operations team of a building. In the last decade, the energy industry saw the disconnect between energy efficiency predictions in building simulations and the actual performance of the buildings. The teams seemed to focus more on perceived savings to achieve better ratings and to achieve 'points' for the project rather than achieving long term and sustainable savings. Having  a background in architecture, building science, assessing existing buildings and energy auditing, Rajasundaram understood the importance of measuring performance and letting the buildings 'speak'. He saw the value of predicting the building's energy performance before it is built by using proven software, by collaborating with experts in the industry and building simulation techniques . He started AZEC to bring about radical change in energy services at a fraction of the cost through effective communication, using experienced modelers who have a sound understanding of all aspects of design and prudent use of the simulation tools.

AZEC believes that existing buildings need to last longer and thrive while they last. AZEC is dedicated towards treating and servicing buildings as the true 'Clients' who typically outlast the owners and designers.
